Sahara Nightclub
The Sahara Nightclub is one of my favorite places to party in Panama City. It can be considered a watering hole, nightclub, disco, pool hall and even a resturant. The best thing is it's a rock and roll club. And, it's full of prostitutes and escorts, who will gladly show you the finer points of entertainment in Panama City.
The Sahara is a great establishment on it's own. They play a great mix of 80's and 90's American rock and roll, a good amount of Latin rock, and local Panamanian music. They feature live bands on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.
The bar offers a full selection of beers and liquors, local brew and top shelf. They have decent food, but since it's on Calle Uruguay, there are many better choices for dining, including the street vendors that are right outside.
The dance floor is spacious, and there is plenty of cushy seating, though they do get pretty packed. They have a good sized bar with barstools, and a rather cramped room in the back with a pool table.
Service is pretty damn good. They have a number of guys running around in red vests to take your order, and the bartenders are friendly and pretty fast.
It's fun to hang out and watch the crowd here. Ranging from Panama City's upper class yuppies to middle class rock and rollers to gringo businessmen and expats, and of course, prostitutes!
Yes, the Sahara allows ladies of the evening to grace it's hallowed halls. These girls usually hang out at other places in the earlier hours, then tend to migrate to Sahara as the night goes on. You'll find many girls partying in Sahara after midnight or so.
The party goes on at Sahara until late at night, and sometimes early the next morning.
